Historical Preservation and the Arts are key ingredients to Malvern's recent Renaissance. Public art, Malvern Concert Series, Southwest Iowa Art Tour, Wabash Trace Nature Trail, and seasonal art shows create a small town Mayberry experience while strengthening economic development. Support local is the difference between a dying rural community or a vibrant rural community.
Art Church Iowa was established and repurposed in 2012 by artist, Zack Jones, as a live work space. Today the de-sanctified 1873 Victorian Gothic Church houses a full sky-scape mural, downstairs Airbnb, Art Church Weddings, and Live @ Art Church music series. Diversity is a key element.
Support the Arts is a slogan often times over looked or misunderstood. The Arts in rural areas have many demographic challenges yet I believe the arts have the power to enrich lives, bring communities together, and inspire positive change.
Public art has the ability to enrich a community by highlighting an idea and simultaneously create tourism that supports other local businesses.
Art is part of our daily lives yet many do not see or hear it. Musicians you sing along to started locally. Curves on a classic car to architecture are created through a common thought process. This includes fashion which includes brands like Carhartt. The Culinary Arts have most likely played into something you enjoy eating. You don't have to be an expert to understand the Arts. It is intertwined in everything.
Support the Arts can be as simple as being morally supportive, showing up to a show, or buying a piece of art that has meaning to you. Support the arts is supporting a fragile piece of our culture that inspires new ideas and enrichment.
